Ryo Ishibashi is known as a former vocalist of the legendary rock band, A.R.B. (Alexander Ragtime Band).

A.R.B. was formed in 1977 and the debut single NORAINU was released in 1978.

1990 – Ryo has decided to concentrate on his acting career in order to follow in the late actor Yusaku Matsuda, and the band announced to suspend activities.

1990 – A.R.B.’s last performance before their split attracted 20,000 people to Yoyogi Gymnasium.

1998 – A.R.B. reunited with a new member. (EBI from UNICORN joined as a bass player.)

1998 – The album “Real Life” was released and has been sold more than 100,000 copies.

1999 Jan 24 – 10,000 audiences gathered at Budokan for their performance.

2006 March – Ryo left A.R.B. with his last message to fans – “I will be singing for rest of my life. To burn with soul”. And that broke up the band.

A.R.B.’s music with powerful beliefs had a major influence on a number of musicians such as Kyosuke Himuro, Masaharu Fukuyama, UNICORN Tamio Okuda and EBI (He joined as the bass player at the revival of A.R.B), JUN SKY WAKLER (S) THE HIGH-LOWS Hiroto Komoto and Masatoshi Mashima.

Also as an actor, Ryo has appeared in many movies and TV dramas, including the major films directed by Takashi Miike and Takeshi Kitano, as well as the Hollywood films.

In the popular historical drama “Ryomaden”, Ryo has played together with Masaharu Fukuyama, who was one of the corroborated artists in his music.

Ryo Ishibashi, wearing two hats as a singer and actor, has restarted his music activity in 2021.
